I recently matched with a beautiful girl I am absolutely mad about on an online dating website. We share so much in common, and we're both ready to pull the trigger on the relationship and have already deleted our dating profiles lol. I've of course talked with her about things she deals with being trans but I've been trying to do my own research too, in case there's anything she hasn't mentioned I need to be ready for. I thought I was educated about trans issues, but I'm realizing I am only POLITICALLY educated about trans issues, I don't really know about the day to day challenges they face with how their hormones effect them (for example, I didn't know estrogen actually caused actual cramping of muscles during PMS, I figured a trans womans period was all hormonal stuff, but I was wrong, turns out it effects and cramps all smooth muscles.) So there's so many little things like that I need to learn, and I don't her to be my only research to educate me, as that's not her job. So far, from what I have managed to research, it seems like having a trans partner isn't really that different from having a cis partner, only that they have dysphoria sometimes and that I need to be understanding and accomidating of that. But I can't find much information online. When I search youtube, almost every video is just fellas is it gay to date a transwoman". I don't give a shit about that lol. I just want to know what I can do to be the best partner possible. Of course I plan on asking her directly and finding out from her herself what she needs and expects of me. But I also would like to hear from other trans women and their experiences, what their partners do for them to make them feel loved and comfortable and safe. What are some small, possibly easy to overlook challenges that we might have to face together? |
